Where the dry leaves fall

A message from Melbourne based illustrator and designer Beci Orpin:

“Hello

my very lovely and talented assistant/right-hand-lady Leah Barthlomew
is having her first solo show “Where the dry leaves fall” at Gorker Gallery,  opening 30th October. Her work is beautiful and the show is
sure to be amazing. If you are in Melbourne hope you can make it.”***

Dry wheat leaves stream like ribbons in the hot wind and the sun won’t go to sleep. Harvest time is coming and there is a whole world hidden in the corn fields -  a world of innocence and nostalgia, children with the skin like honey and feathers in their hair hiding from the future, singing songs about the summer and freedom.
Leah Bartholomew’s debut exhibition “Where the dry leaves fall” comes from a place of optimism and warmth, simple needs and vast dreams. Her giclee prints, potato stamps, wooden sculptures, watercolours and tissue collages will remind you of carefree days, child crafts, birthday cards you wished you’d kept and your favourite story books.
