This is a detail of Andy Smith’s brilliant new work to promote the British Heart Foundation 60 minutes a day campain.
The campain is aimed at school children to exercise 60 minutes everyday, regardless of how… hoolahooping, riding a too large or too small bicycle, walking your dog or juggling with plates.
It is one of two posters, artdirected by Marc and Anna.
Formerly The Breslin Hotel, the historic property that houses Ace Hotel New York has always been full of life. The new owners, who also run Ace Hotels in Portland, Palm Springs and Seattle have reinvented this New York establishment to a place for people who make cities interesting. It is built around collaborations and friendships with local designer, artists, and independent businesses.
Chris Rubino, the Brooklyn-based artists and artdirector, who has been showing his works and collaborating with a wide range of companies around the globe (including Uniqlo, GAS, graniph and Journal Standard in Japan) has created 4 canvases forrooms in Ace Hotel.
Filmmaker Jim Helton, has screened this beautiful documentation on Rubino’s working process.

We got recently introduced to an interesting Art Space in Kichijouji Tokyo: the Ongoing Artcenter.
The Ongoing Artcenter is seeing itself as a pioneer to introduce today’ s and upcoming trends in art. By questioning: “What is Art?” they have created a gallery space with a cafe and a bar, a library complex and they set up symposiums and life events. Emerging artists have the possibility to discuss their ideas, do workshops, and of course exhibit their works. The Ongoing Artcenter is constantly working on widening their artist network, which will hopefully find international echoes as well. (The website is unfortunately in Japanese only)
The painter Mikiko Fujita will show her collection of night paintings at the Ongoing Artcenter from February 18th until March 1st.
