Fantasista Utamaro, a Japanese artist, designer and illustrator will show a new collection of textile designs at the
Wall Gallery Harajuku, La Foret Department Store 1F from 2009 June 2nd till July 15th.

Utamaro explains the concept for his designs with:
“The ordinary commonness of a textile is turned into an extraordinary and infinitely proliferating material.
With every single view a wider creative space can be detected and discovered.”

All fabrics and textile designs that can be bought directly from the gallery wall per 1m pieces in length or as much as you like and stock lasts!

Prizes are as follows:

1-3 meters: ¥ 6.000/m

3-5 meters: ¥ 5.400/m and

5 ~ meters: ¥ 4.500/m

Pin-batches in three sizes are available as well:

120 mm: ¥2,205

100mm: ¥1,890

75mm: ¥945

It’s Utamaro’s goal to sell his fabrics and to provoke the creativity of all his customers!
The fabric (100% Polyesther with inkjet printed patterns) can be used to make clothes,
but to sew interior items as cushions, curtains, lamp shades and all kinds of other decorations as well.
He even believes that a piece of fabric framed as a picture is enough to prettify your walls.

This exhibition at Wall Gallery Harajuku is Utamaro’s first solo exhibition.

Jim Avignon x Utamaro at Superdeluxe

Cabaret set up a life painting battle with Fantasista Utamaro and the Berlin artist Jim Avignon at Superdeluxe Tokyo on December 1st 2008. Speed painted artworks were sold in a speed auction!

Jim Avignon, who writes and composes songs a.k.a. Neoangin gave a one hour concert and DJ Tonio Clutch were at the turntables.
