Postcard Exhibition
Greetings from….
In August 2008 I invited international artists, illustrators, designers and photographers to send me a postcard from thier hometowns or from the countries where they live or work right now.
The Feedback was amazing: 126 creatives from all around the world participated in this project and sent about 160 wonderful postcard artpieces to Tokyo!
Flyer Design: Tomoki Uematsu
Here is the story behind it….
While I was still working as the artdirector for graniph here in Tokyo, I was in a very nice contact with Sergio Auguilar, who is the founder and owner of the select store Subaquatica in Madrid Spain.
(If you are around, please don’t miss to pass by his store and gallery, the selection is exquisite for Madrid and he has two of the sharpest eyes for newest trends in the art, illustration and design world!!!)
To celebrate the fith anniversary of Subaquatica, Sergio invited all artists that were collaborating with him in the past years and organised the postcard exhibition “Greetings from…”
I loved this idea and asked him, if I can do a show with the same concept in Tokyo. He agreed and so I contacted everyone who has worked with me before for a T-shirt collaboration at graniph.
The first card that arrived came straight from NYC. Peter Arkle sent it and caught exactly my feeling of an individual that has been blown in the freelance sky and needs to learn how to fly!
Japanese Postmen had to work hard to deliver all letters to Kaeru Sensei’s office in Shibuya, and of course we were happy to receive every single artpiece.
Followed by cards from Australia and New Zealand

and also from Canada

they also came from Brazil, Costa Rica and Argentina…

A huge number came from London

and more from London….
